Concealed Cabinet Hinges - A Rough Guide

Concealed hinges come in many versions but only two sizes, these are 26mm and 35mm.
Concealed hinges are the hinges most commonly used on kitchen unit doors.
26mm concealed hinges are used in light units like bathroom cabinets and were often used on budget kitchen units to keep the price down. 26mm hinges have a limited range of types.
35mm are the most common size for concealed hinges and come in a wide variety of types to solve different problems. These are some of the most popular concealed hinge types available.

  • Availible in 26mm and 35mm diameter
  • This is the most commonly used of all the concealed hinges
  • Usually supplied with a standard (size zero) plate
  • A single door would usually be 4mm narrower than the carcass

  • 8mm Cranked hinges are used when you need to hang a door either side of a 18mm or wider centre post

  • This is the hinge you use if you want your door to fit in the gap of your unit/frame
  • Doors needs to be 4mm narrower than the gap

Hinge plates come in a variety of sizes with "size zero" being the most common.
As a rule, all hinges are supplied with hinge plates.
2mm hinge plates are useful for packing out for 15mm thick carcasses.
